The warm, dark sound of a violoncello is dreamy, melancholic, stirring and very poetic. At this matinée, our cello quartet explores this effect and plays works written or arranged for this ensemble from three centuries. This musical journey through time begins with the Baroque composers David Funck and Joseph de Boismotier. It then moves on to Joseph Haydn. Our musicians also play well-known melodies by Richard Wagner and from Felix Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. With Richard Klemm, they pay tribute to a musician and composer who ranks among the most important cellists of the 20th century.
