Experience swing and jazz classics with singer Sophie Grobler, jazz pianist Max Doehlemann, the BSOF’s Monkfish Jazz Trio and, as always, accompanied by our large orchestra. We dedicate this concert to the luminaries of swing and jazz: Miles Davis, Thelonius Monks and Dave Brubeck.

You will also hear songs that have become jazz classics, such as the Oscar-winning Moon River from Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Fly Me to the Moon. The songs will be sung by Sophie Grobler. Born in Potsdam, she studied jazz singing in Weimar, was accepted into Peter Herbolzheimer’s European Masterclass and has worked with Bobby McFerrin and Clueso.

We also welcome jazz pianist and composer Max Doehlemann as a guest. He developed this evening’s programme, which revolves around the themes of ‘river’ and “night” in keeping with the city of Frankfurt on the Oder. In addition to jazz classics, the BSOF will be premiering Max Doehlemann’s work Symphony 1 – Beyond Jazz, commissioned by the orchestra.
