In 2022, violinist Tianwa Yang received what is perhaps the most important award for soloists: the OPUS KLASSIK as »Instrumentalist of the Year«. We welcomed Tianwa Yang as our »Artist in Residence« during the 2022/23 season and toured with her throughout China in 2024. This exceptional violinist now returns to the BSOF with Maurice Ravel’s ‘Tzigane’ Concert Rhapsody. The piece is considered one of the most demanding works in the violin repertoire.

In addition to the audience favourites by Honegger and Ravel, we also have a brand new piece in the programme for this evening. We will be premiering Kristóf Siklosi’s Preludio e Canone. It was written as part of a composition competition and our cooperation with the Berlin University of the Arts.

The concert will be conducted by Karl-Heinz Steffens, one of Germany’s most renowned conductors. He was General Music Director in Halle, Chief Conductor of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Philharmonic Orchestra and Musical Director of the Norwegian National Opera in Oslo. He has conducted the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, among others, and has guested at La Scala in Milan and the Berlin State Opera.
