Simon Höfele spielt Wynton Marsalis‘ Trompetenkonzert
17. April 2026, 19:30 • Kleist Forum Frankfurt (Oder) – Large Hall
  • Wynton Marsalis: Trumpet Concerto
  • Antonín Dvořák: Symphony No. 9 E minor Op. 95 “From the New World”
  • Simon Höfele, Trumpet
  • Steven Sloane, conductor

Simon Höfele is one of the best and most renowned trumpeters of his generation. As a soloist, he has performed worldwide with leading orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. He has taken to the stage at venues as prestigious as the Elbphilharmonie, Wigmore Hall, Tonhalle Zurich, the Vienna Konzerthaus and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw.

With Wynton Marsalis’ Trumpet Concerto, he now presents himself as an outstanding interpreter of contemporary music. This trumpet concerto, written by arguably the world’s best jazz trumpeter, combines modern trumpet language with ‘classical’ music in an unparalleled way.

We are linking this new American music with the work that established a unique musical tradition on the other side of the Atlantic: Antonín Dvořák’s symphony »From the New World«. He created one of the greatest, most melodious and most popular symphonies of the 19th century with this music. For this concert, we are placing it in the sensitively skilled hands of American-Israeli conductor Steven Sloane.
