With this chamber music in an almost orchestral sound, we return once more to the atrium of Frankfurt City Hall. Our musicians devote themselves to nonets that encapsulate the musical oeuvre of their composers as if under a magnifying glass.
In Nino Rota’s Nonetto, his characteristic sensitive melodic writing and Mediterranean flair combine to create one of the most elegant works of chamber music of the entire 20th century.
Bohuslav Martinu’s Nonet No. 2 is considered his chamber music legacy. His biographer Harry Halbreich called it “a piece of eternal beauty”.
