A kaleidoscope has infinite colours: Reds. Blues. Yellows. Greens.
Warm. Bright. Toxic. Soothing.
Sometimes the colours blend together.
Much like the way people interact with one another.

There can be love, kindness, understanding, politeness and compassion. Or conversely:
Rudeness, lies, hatred, controversy, persecution and violence.

Together with pupils from the Europa-Gymnasium in Frankfurt (Oder), the Music School and the Singakademie in Frankfurt (Oder), as well as the Lyceum at the Collegium Polonicum in Słubice, we aim to explore and discuss the themes of this project based on the historical story of Jesus of Nazareth and with the help of music by Johann Sebastian Bach from his two famous Passions: St Matthew Passion and St John Passion. We will also feature pieces by the Argentine pioneer of the tango nuevo, Astor Piazzolla – for example, from his opera Maria de Buenos Aires. Our new GMD, Felix Mildenberger, will be conducting.

Are the colours of human relationships always clear-cut? Do they blend together? What emerges from this? How does this affect our relationships? How can we live together harmoniously? We aim to explore all these questions artistically with the German and Polish pupils: through choreography, film, singing, acting and drawing.
What will result? Vibrant colours, we hope. Just like a kaleidoscope. And perhaps also – insights.
