Classical Music on Sundays extra – »Young Stars«

The »Young Stars« concert series continues this season under the baton of General Music Director Felix Mildenberger, featuring two up-and-coming musical talents from the younger generation.

Israeli clarinettist Jonathan Leibovitz will perform Carl Maria von Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No. 2. He has already made a name for himself internationally as a soloist and chamber musician and has received numerous awards. During the 2024/25 season, he made his début as a soloist with the Munich Symphony Orchestra, amongst other engagements. Highlights of the past season included performances at Wigmore Hall, the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Beethovenfest Bonn and the Marlboro Music Festival. With Weber’s Clarinet Concerto, he can now showcase his skill to Frankfurt audiences across the clarinet’s vast range, from dramatic outbursts to lyrical arias.

The young violinist Hana Chang showcases her talent with Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s rarely performed Violin Concerto in D minor. As an up-and-coming soloist, she has already performed with, amongst others, the SWR Symphony Orchestra and the Bremen Symphony Orchestra. She currently lives in Berlin and is studying with Christian Tetzlaff at the Kronberg Academy. An enthusiastic chamber musician, Hana Chang performs regularly at chamber music festivals and has appeared with musicians such as Janine Jansen, Sol Gabetta, Daniel Müller-Schott and Amihai Grosz. Most recently, she has performed in chamber music series at the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. Between 2024 and 2026, she has been a member of BBC Radio 3’s New Generation Artist programme and has collaborated with various BBC orchestras.
