Educational projects

Our major Education Projects have been running since 2008. Several thousand German and Polish young people have taken part in these projects since then.

Following major performances such as Carmina Burana, in which hundreds of schoolchildren took part, we developed a new Education series. It is called »Spannungsfelder« (Areas of Conflict).

In these »Spannungsfelder«, we worked with German and Polish pupils to explore the relationships between music and technology, the Orient and the Occident, lies and truth, justice and fairness.

The »Spannungsfelder« series will conclude with its fifth project in the 2025/26 season. This time, we will be exploring the tension between fear and courage.

All of these projects are aimed at pupils aged between 13 and 18. As with all previous educational projects, Howard Griffiths is responsible for the artistic direction. The Education Projects began with him and during his time as Artistic Director of the BSOF. He continues this work as Honorary Conductor of the BSOF.
